UpLevel Your Communication
UpLevel Your Communication: Evolve Your Presence and Speech to Change Everything is a book by Dr. Miluna Fausch, published by Advantage Books in March 2022, ISBN 978-1642251999. It sets out the Vocal Archetypes® System and treats speaking as a physical and somatic practice rather than a performance skill.
Readers consistently describe it as not at all what you expect, which reflects that it begins in the body rather than with technique.
Who it is for
The book is written for people who have been told to project, or to be more confident, without ever being told how. It suits readers who have tried conventional public speaking advice and found it did not reach the physical experience of speaking under pressure.
It addresses the shaking voice, the tight throat and the rushed delivery as nervous system responses, and works on them through breath and body before it works on preparation.
What readers say
Two readers, four years apart, reached independently for the same phrase to describe this book: it is not at all what you expect. That is usually the moment it starts working.
Readers also describe it as a book that is read quickly and applied slowly, and as one that finally addresses the physical part of speaking that every other book skipped.
About the author
In her forties a doctor found a fist-sized tumour in the right side of Dr. Miluna Fausch's head. Her face became paralysed and two surgeries followed. She had spent her working life on stage and in front of cameras, and she had to learn how to speak again.
The Vocal Archetypes® System came out of that recovery, which is why her work begins in the body rather than in the slide deck.
